What’s comforting to me is knowing that our country is in a cycle that it’s been in before….
I’ve become fairly well versed on the #GildedAge thanks in no small way to The Gilded Age on HBO-a brilliantly rendered series starring top tiered actors.
I’m late to these series (just finished Downton Abbey also brilliant) and the history woven into them invites viewers to learn more about these times….
Gilded Age, set in America, is a study on the haves and havenots. Greed almost ruined this country at the turn of the 20th century when, much like now, #innovation skyrocketed making so many men so rich. Some were decent human beings but so many were not.
Mark Twain was a senior statesman during this era and witnessed what we are witnessing now.
If he said what this meme attributes to him, then he too was as worried as we, the people, are now. He used his #voice-please use yours in whatever way you can.
