What’s gone wrong with capitalism?

Last Word With Lawrence O'Donnell on 4/15/22 had guests on that explained how capitalism has devolved and its impact on democracy.

What we in the western world thought would happen when the walls came down in Berlin back in the 1980’s not only didn’t happen, Russia became more autocratic and more repressive. Yet Russia, as well as China, functioned as quasi capitalist societies.

Why were the Russian oligarchs able hide their money and create a vast offshore Russia in the west? Fintan O’Toole’s answer: “They were able to do it because they exploited systems we created to allow our super rich people to hide our own money through shell companies, etc.

“The corruption of our own sense of responsible capitalism rooted in the common good has contributed hugely to the creation of these monsters that now threaten itself,” say Fintan O’Toole in this interview I encourage people to watch on YouTube.

This all began in the 1980s when the U. S. leaders voted to deregulate everything that kept the lid on greed and why Ronald Reagan became the poster boy for all things rich.
